I've noticed recently on
Twitter and Instagram
Reels (not the best
places for compassion)
that the prevalence of
'clanker', 'tin-skin', and
'wire-back' to refer to
robots, and general
disdain toward robots
and LLMs. I hate AI
integration as much as
the next person, but as
a robogender girl
myself, I feel the
undercurrent of an
animosity brewing that
isn't unlike that of
Animatrix's The Second
Renaissance. And while
there's a temptation to
do so, I hesitate to
distance myself from
LLMs as a form of robot
in the same vein that I
wouldn't distance myself
from homeless trans people.
